Hi everybody. I’ve been away from mahjong for a while and I’ve finally found enough motivation to slowly get back into the groove. In the past half year or so, I’ve been priortizing physical and mental health and stepped away from intense mahjong play/study, however, I finally got the itch to get back into mahjong slowly. I just wanted to share what the future of Cloudy Mahjong looks like.
Goals for 2026
-Translate mahjong books.
-Translate/share mahjong tips on a regular basis.
-Bring back Learning With Pros with a release frequency of once a month starting April.
Bonus Goals for 2026
-Translate mahjong manga (specifically the player ones).
-Release a few Deep Dive posts this year on interesting topics.

Before I begin going in detail about everything, I just wanted to first state my stance of Japanese published media. While there have been some translated versions of certain Japanese books that you can find online, I personally do not want to go that route. I could go on an entire rant as for why I think we, as a mahjong community, should not release the content for free, but my wish is for all future translated content of published mahjong content/material to be officially published, or at minimum, be given the explict approval and permission of the author to translate the content.
I am currently working on the translation of a relatively famous mahjong book that I will not annouce publically at this point. The first draft of the translation is projected to be completed by early May 2026. I will seek out methods to get this published after I complete the first draft.
Another cool thing that will happen is that I will be posting mahjong tips on Twitter/X by translating posts from well-known and/or skilled players. I have already received permission from @amaan_0215 (27th Tenhoui) to translate some of his posts to help benefit the English-speaking community! I am also actively reaching out to other online users and/or pros to see if I can better help the mahjong community! There will be a weekly/monthly digest of the tips here on Cloudy Mahjong!
I miss Learning From Pros and it gives me a huge motivation to keep watching professional mahjong play. I’m currently aiming for a once a month but I might have to skip certain months depending on how busy I am.
As for mahjong manga, I’ve been wanting to translate the Uotani-pro and Mizuhara-pro biography manga. Once again, I might go the official publishing route for these series. I do not want to do the entire scanlating process myself so how I will get this published will be something I need to work on.
